An unexpectedly hard shot by Elvio Figueroa in the 42nd minute of play forced E. de L.P.'s goalkeeper Eduardo Orain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Modesto Oihenarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilfredo Cai, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elvio Figueroa was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 51 minutes, Elvio Figueroa put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Eduardo Orain. Gustavo Patrido scored 1-1 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Modesto Oihenarte, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Elvio Figueroa might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eduardo Orain. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elvio Figueroa ran back to his position shaking his head. Despite being the better team, Clun Atletico River Plate failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
