Velez Sarsfield's Arnulfo Caetano got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paolo Clemencin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Cornelio Bernebe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Adrian Beliran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Arnulfo Caetano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. Velez Sarsfield fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Cornelio Bernebe came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by C. A. Velez Sarsfield's Federico Baldovino. But to his dismay, Federico Baldovino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnulfo Caetano in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cornelio Bernebe saved real pargata from getting behind. After having played for 45 minutes, Florentino Nalo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Velez Sarsfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Florentino Nalo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Paolo Clemencin managed to get in a good position for a shot. C. A. Velez Sarsfield's supporters rose to their feet, but Paolo Clemencin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cornelio Bernebe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paolo Clemencin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Velez Sarsfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florentino Nalo couldn't finish the play. In the 83rd minute, Paolo Clemencin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cornelio Bernebe made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Paolo Clemencin sent off a good shot on target.
