Universitario's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cayetano Baumar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Universitario's Ruben Ramirez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Ezkerra in the 11th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Israel Veremundo in the 14th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Universitario's Eliseo Mero. Hipolito Honrio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabian Sotero, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. If Fabian Sotero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fabian Sotero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hipolito Honrio having to interfere. Ceferino Gilabert hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Fabian Sotero blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hipolito Honrio having to make a save. Fabian Sotero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Hipolito Honrio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Ovidio Malvin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hipolito Honrio was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. 40 minutes into the match, Universitario's goal looked a bit too open when Cayetano Baumar came free, but Ruben Ramirez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Universitario's Moises Arano got a free kick in the 41st minute. After 42 played minutes, Atlethic Tahiel F.C.'s Uriel Lleir shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ruben Ramirez came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Atlethic Tahiel F.C. reached it. After a defensive mix-up in Atlethic Tahiel F.C.'s zone, Fabian Sotero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hipolito Honrio came out of the goal and Fabian Sotero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

51 minutes into the match, Universitario's goalkeeper Ruben Ramirez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cayetano Baumar. In the 52nd minute, Eliseo Mero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Israel Veremundo charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Israel Veremundo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Atlethic Tahiel F.C.'s Israel Veremundo got a free kick in the 56th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Atlethic Tahiel F.C.'s zone, Fabian Sotero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hipolito Honrio came out of the goal and Fabian Sotero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 61 minutes, Ovidio Malvin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Universitario's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ovidio Malvin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fabian Sotero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hipolito Honrio having to interfere. Hipolito Honrio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Sotero in the 65th minute of play. In the 70th minute, Arnaldo Ezkerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee felt a red card was in order, 73 minutes into the game, when Moises Arano put in a rough tackle. When the match had been going on for 76 minutes, Atlethic Tahiel F.C.'s Uriel Lleir got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ruben Ramirez. In the 80th minute Gaston Farias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Ramirez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruben Ramirez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaston Farias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Melchor Nisio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hipolito Honrio having to interfere. The throw-in from Israel Veremundo in the 90th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Universitario's Eliseo Mero. In the 96th minute, Universitario's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Arnaldo Ezkerra fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The Atlethic Tahiel F.C. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Atlethic Tahiel F.C. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
