The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee ignored Sarmiento AFC's protests and gave Albano Ordono a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Sarmiento AFC's Albano Ordono got a free kick in the 10th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sarmiento AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 13th minute. Penalty! After 17 played minutes velez sarsfield f.c. got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Itzaina. If Florentino Umbruso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florentino Umbruso struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Ceferino Checa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sarmiento AFC. Sarmiento AFC's Godofredo Weather got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Florentino Umbruso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ceferino Checa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Florentino Herrera took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Ceferino Checa to make any attempt to save it. Vladimiro Santos hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Ceferino Checa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Godofredo Weather in the 48th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Constantino Sanduru made the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the game, Florentino Umbruso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Ceferino Checa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to velez sarsfield f.c. getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Carlos Itzaina hit a great ball. Eleuterio Hondo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 86th minute, Eleuterio Hondo fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Constantino Sanduru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. velez sarsfield f.c.'s Ceferino Checa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Godofredo Weather in the 96th minute of play. velez sarsfield f.c.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
