Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Esmeralda's Tomás Orzaize played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Honorio Salvino in the 22nd minute of play. Amancio Veremundo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Eliseo Arnau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Amancio Veremundo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Ruben Lapurdi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomás Orzaize made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Honorio Salvino in the 35th minute of play. The supporters of González booed when Esmeralda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Serafino Oliveiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Honorio Salvino might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tomás Orzaize. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Honorio Salvino ran back to his position shaking his head. Amancio Veremundo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute, Abelardo Salamon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Honorio Salvino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Amancio Veremundo made a kick off. Amancio Veremundo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eliseo Arnau read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. If Amancio Veremundo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 60th minute, Honorio Salvino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ruben Lapurdi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pascual Pagomari received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Esmeralda's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave González the free kick. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Esmeralda. 77 minutes into the match, Claudio Maidana notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Esmeralda's Tomás Orzaize. Tomás Orzaize was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Honorio Salvino's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 81stth minute, Tomás Orzaize skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Amancio Veremundo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliseo Arnau having to interfere. Eliseo Arnau didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Serafino Oliveiro went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After 95 minutes, Serafino Oliveiro mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Esmeralda and the González players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 95th match minute, Esmeralda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serafino Oliveiro to maneuver through the defense.
