Wilburys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Independencia the free kick. After 16 played minutes Wilburys got a freekick which was hit by Pastor Jesco. Feliberto Evis struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Patricio Gotzon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independencia. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Patricio Gotzon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Feliberto Evis in the 34th minute of play forced Wilburys's goalkeeper Patricio Gotzon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Feliberto Evis in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Patricio Gotzon saved Wilburys from getting behind. After having played for 38 minutes, Laureano Maureo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independencia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laureano Maureo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 41stth minute of the game Feliberto Evis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wilburys's Patricio Gotzon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Wilburys's zone, Ulysses Valladares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patricio Gotzon came out of the goal and Ulysses Valladares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Feliberto Evis came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Independencia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Feliberto Evis couldn't finish the play. Feliberto Evis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patricio Gotzon having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nicasio Sidro to strike the kick off in the second half. Patricio Gotzon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulysses Valladares in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 53rd minute, Feliberto Evis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Feliberto Evis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute, Rodrigo Polo made a precise shot to the right of Patricio Gotzon. Wilburys's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. With his leg Patricio Gotzon managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Independencia's Feliberto Evis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 65th minute, Feliberto Evis reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Patricio Gotzon. The goal made the score 0-2. Ulysses Valladares struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Patricio Gotzon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independencia. Ulysses Valladares received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Patricio Gotzon came out and tried to block the shot, but Ulysses Valladares slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 71st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Feliberto Evis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independencia's supporters rose to their feet, but Feliberto Evis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patricio Gotzon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Feliberto Evis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 81 minutes of play Wilburys's Pastor Jesco was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 82nd match minute, Wilburys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pastor Jesco to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Julio Romildo in the 85th minute really tested Patricio Gotzon's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 87th minute, Feliberto Evis made a precise shot to the right of Patricio Gotzon. Wilburys's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Independencia's Feliberto Evis got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 95th minute Feliberto Evis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patricio Gotzon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 96th minute, Aldo Azeari left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independencia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Independencia played a much better game than Wilburys and deserved their victory. The Wilburys players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
