Damaso Bordat hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Acostilla's zone, Danilo Matteo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ildefonso Berdaitz came out of the goal and Danilo Matteo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Villarreal F.C's Modesto Cutberto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo Cordarrell in the 42nd minute of play. Villarreal F.C's Danilo Matteo got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Danilo Matteo to strike the kick off in the second half. The Acostilla fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ildefonso Berdaitz should have stopped the shot. Ubaldo Ovando charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. But to his dismay, Romeo Cordarrell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After having played for 94 minutes, Basilio Berasko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Villarreal F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basilio Berasko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Acostilla's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
