The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 1-0 became the score in the 4th minute when Hugo Quintun elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Norberto Suarez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximiliano Ferdinand in the 14th minute of play forced Covunco's goalkeeper Horacio Martinez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute of the match, Hugo Quintun got a very nice opportunity to score, but Abel Liberto was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Hugo Quintun could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Abel Liberto made a huge save. In the 21st match minute, San Cristobal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severo Kismi to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind San Cristobal's goalkeeper Abel Liberto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Horacio Martinez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severo Kismi in the 31st minute of the match. San Cristobal's Abel Liberto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norberto Suarez in the 32nd minute of play. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Covunco's goalkeeper Horacio Martinez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Norberto Suarez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Liberto having to interfere. If Severo Kismi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norberto Suarez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Severo Kismi to strike the kick off in the second half.
