After 44 played minutes Douglas Haig got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Ongile. After a defensive mix-up in Douglas Haig's zone, Rogelio Orlanda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carolo Cayo came out of the goal and Rogelio Orlanda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rogelio Orlanda stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Rogelio Orlanda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carolo Cayo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciriaco Etxatxu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
