After a defensive mix-up in Hidalgo FC's zone, Ovidio Tipi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eustacio Chesus came out of the goal and Ovidio Tipi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeremias Azubeli recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremias Azubeli in the 43rd minute of play forced Hidalgo FC's goalkeeper Eustacio Chesus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeremias Azubeli recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After having played for 51 minutes, Ovidio Tipi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ovidio Tipi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eustacio Chesus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremias Azubeli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. River Plate's Jeremias Azubeli got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Jeremias Azubeli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeremias Azubeli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eustacio Chesus having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the River Plate players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Hidalgo FC.
