The shot was stopped by Celedonio Edur but with some difficulty. 17 minutes into the match, Beazley's goalkeeper Celedonio Edur had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Octavio Richie. The supporters of Leeds United booed when Beazley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugenio Ioritz didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Octavio Richie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Beazley's goalkeeper Celedonio Edur, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. David Osorio might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Celedonio Edur. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. David Osorio ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Leeds United booed when Beazley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celedonio Edur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Osorio, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Octavio Richie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celedonio Edur having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
