The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, F.C. Guardia Imperial's Francisco Gaskon got control of the ball when Octavio Richie tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 11th minute, Edelmiro Egoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Octavio Richie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Gaskon having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eustacio Bertin during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Leeds United's Eustacio Bertin got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Adolfo Cordeiro made in the 27th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Leeds United's Edelmiro Egoi. The supporters of Leeds United booed when F.C. Guardia Imperial was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adolfo Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nunez Nafarroa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Francisco Gaskon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Octavio Richie in the 35th minute of play forced F.C. Guardia Imperial's goalkeeper Francisco Gaskon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romeo Belasko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cayetano Escobar in the 38th minute of the match. F.C. Guardia Imperial's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Laureano Tonete in the 40th minute. A nice corner shot did that Laureano Tonete got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Romeo Belasko quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. David Osorio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Francisco Gaskon made a huge save. Leeds United's Romeo Belasko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cayetano Escobar in the 47th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Octavio Richie made the kick off in the second half. Celso Cuarto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeo Belasko having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Nunez Nafarroa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leeds United's supporters rose to their feet, but Nunez Nafarroa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francisco Gaskon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 62nd minute, Octavio Richie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Nunez Nafarroa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Octavio Richie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Francisco Gaskon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 90 minutes, Cayetano Escobar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. F.C. Guardia Imperial's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cayetano Escobar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Octavio Richie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Gaskon having to interfere. 96 minutes into the game, David Osorio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Leeds United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave F.C. Guardia Imperial the free kick. A collision led to Leeds United getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. David Osorio hit a great ball. Romeo Belasko was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 97th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Laureano Tonete. Chants of F.C. Guardia Imperial echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Leeds United had held the ball for most of the match.
