An unexpectedly hard shot by Didier Pironi in the 9th minute of play forced La Maquinita FC's goalkeeper Teodosio Quintana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Teodosio Quintana didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sergio Acarreta went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 19 minutes into the match, Didier Pironi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Teodosio Quintana. La Maquinita FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Didier Pironi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Sergio Acarreta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodosio Quintana having to interfere. Sergio Acarreta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sergio Acarreta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Lanus AC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nicanor Ibar to make the kick off. After 51 minutes of play, Lanus AC's Didier Pironi made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Teodosio Quintana was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 58th minute, Bertil Plomgaard hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Didier Pironi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teodosio Quintana having to interfere. Oscar Suarez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bertil Plomgaard, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Lanus AC's Sergio Acarreta got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Didier Pironi scored 0-4 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Teodosio Quintana, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Gogo Orlanda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lanus AC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gogo Orlanda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Teodosio Quintana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oscar Suarez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bertil Plomgaard, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. A collision led to Lanus AC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Gogo Orlanda hit a great ball. Didier Pironi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bertil Plomgaard kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. When Sergio Acarreta came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Lanus AC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sergio Acarreta couldn't finish the play. Lanus AC's Didier Pironi managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Froilan Lixandro in the 89 minute of the game. La Maquinita FC's Teodosio Quintana proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save La Maquinita FC from getting a goal against them. Sergio Acarreta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Teodosio Quintana made a huge save. 93 minutes into the match, La Maquinita FC's goalkeeper Teodosio Quintana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sergio Acarreta. Teodosio Quintana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Didier Pironi in the 96th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded Lanus AC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than La Maquinita FC.
