In a very dangerous position, a player in Once Pitus fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! The referee gave SentimientoPesquero a penalty, 32 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Paulo Fonso, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Once Pitus's Zeledon Bermudez. 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Florentino Gabrio to make the kick off.
