After 14 played minutes Once Pitus got a freekick which was hit by Arnulfo Curcio. After 16 minutes, Godfredo Abastas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Once Pitus and the Club Atletico Rafaela players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aristides Arnau charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aristides Arnau the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Once Pitus booed when Club Atletico Rafaela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aristides Arnau didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Godofredo Lamberto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 33rd minute, Benigno Indartsu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute, Godofredo Lamberto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hugo Mannie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Club Atletico Rafaela booed when Once Pitus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benigno Indartsu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Once Pitus's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Mannie came free, but Zeledon Bermudez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zeledon Bermudez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Epifanio James, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabio Bibiano in the 60th minute of play forced Club Atletico Rafaela's goalkeeper Jacobo Oriol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
