The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Hipolito Brais in the 2ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. With a left leg Eduardo Telmo saved Gaona FC from getting behind. 10 minutes into the match, Gaona FC's goalkeeper Eduardo Telmo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dionisio Ponce. After having played for 15 minutes, Guaberto Remigio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gaona FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guaberto Remigio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carlos Camerino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Gaona FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Lucio Damario hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Carlos Camerino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gaona FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Camerino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santos Oliverios breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Dionisio Ponce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hipolito Brais in the 38th minute of play forced Gaona FC's goalkeeper Eduardo Telmo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Gaona FC's Eduardo Telmo got control of the ball when Dionisio Ponce tried to sneak it across the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hipolito Brais was the one to do the kick off. Carlos Camerino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santos Oliverios having to interfere. In the 80thth minute of the game Hipolito Brais who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gaona FC's Eduardo Telmo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. FC Sonata's Santos Oliverios played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guaberto Remigio in the 83rd minute of play. Santos Oliverios made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guaberto Remigio in the 87th minute of play. When Dionisio Ponce came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the FC Sonata fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dionisio Ponce couldn't finish the play. Hipolito Brais received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Eduardo Telmo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
