River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Teo Oton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Florencio Leoiar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When German Eriz fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored River Plate's protests and gave German Eriz a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to River Plate getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. German Eriz hit a great ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Teo Oton made a kick off. Emanuel Medina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benedicto Adrio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, River Plate's German Eriz got a free kick in the 60th minute.
