When Ricardo Urtsin fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fanegas's protests and gave Ricardo Urtsin a yellow card for diving instead. After 12 played minutes Fanegas got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Urtsin. In the 19th minute Cirilo Videl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zeledon Abad saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leo Orlandus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Salvador Gonsalve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for San Lorenzo FC! Zeledon Abad went to the wrong direction when Ismael Goiz was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Leo Orlandus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Salvador Gonsalve, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After a rather tough play, Fanegas's Ricardo Urtsin got a free kick in the 37th minute. In the 43rd minute, Salvador Gonsalve got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Salvador Gonsalve made a kick off. Leo Orlandus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Salvador Gonsalve, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 58th minute San Lorenzo FC were awarded a corner. Edelmiro Elequemedo went to the cornerflag to take it. After 62 played minutes, San Lorenzo FC's Edelmiro Elequemedo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Leo Orlandus came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in San Lorenzo FC reached it. If Salvador Gonsalve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antonio Elizardo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Mateo Romo fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Lorenzo FC's protests and gave Mateo Romo a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in San Lorenzo FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 67th minute. Penalty! Zeledon Abad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Savion in the 73rd minute of play. Cirilo Videl sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hilario Bastian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fanegas's Leo Orlandus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Elizardo in the 83rd minute of play. Antonio Elizardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Orlandus having to interfere. Eduardo Savion received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Zeledon Abad tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Fanegas had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
