The referee ignored Bolívar's protests and gave Vladimiro Oriche a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Bolívar's Vladimiro Oriche got a free kick in the 28th minute. Robustiano Benvido came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Bolívar's Vladimiro Oriche. But to his dismay, Vladimiro Oriche quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Arturo Berbiz kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. In the 42nd minute of the match Candido Madeo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ricardo Lorencio skillfully saved the ball. Serafin Guter took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Robustiano Benvido. Robustiano Benvido dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Ricardo Lorencio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuel Ciano, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After a rather tough play, velez's Jorge Bieito got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute of the match Evaristo Otsoko shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Robustiano Benvido showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. velez's Robustiano Benvido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafin Guter in the 63rd minute of play. velez's Robustiano Benvido proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save velez from getting a goal against them. Robustiano Benvido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serafin Guter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Bolívar's Victorino Rocendo got a free kick in the 68th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Samuel Ciano in the 70th minute of play forced Bolívar's goalkeeper Ricardo Lorencio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricardo Lorencio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Ciano in the 77th minute of play. If Higinio Jacob had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricardo Lorencio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Samuel Ciano's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. If Vladimiro Oriche had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 90th match minute, Bolívar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Berbiz to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Bolívar eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
