The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Cecilio Isias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 5th minute, Batel AFC's Teodoro Gaspard dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 9th minute, Hugó Baróti left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Avellaneda FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Hugó Baróti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Casimiro Checa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 14 played minutes Batel AFC got a freekick which was hit by Fidel Sauveur. In the 28th minute Panos Mendrinos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casimiro Checa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Avellaneda FC's goalkeeper Ariel Alfonso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cesar Pirro. Casimiro Checa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugó Baróti, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 43 minutes into the game, Avellaneda FC's Panos Mendrinos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Casimiro Checa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. The Batel AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. If Hugó Baróti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Batel AFC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Hugó Baróti 83 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-7. Cecilio Isias hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. After having played for 90 minutes, Cesar Pirro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Batel AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cesar Pirro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Batel AFC's goalkeeper Casimiro Checa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fidel Sauveur kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Panos Mendrinos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Casimiro Checa made a huge save. Avellaneda FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
