The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Pavón getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Omar Estevon hit a great ball. Pavón's Erasmo Lordi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 7th minute of the match, managed to save Pavón from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice moves Gilberto Pero could shoot a difficult shot in the 10th minute, which Erasmo Lordi however easily saved by the left post. Gilberto Pero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pavón were furious when Leonardo Thomas was red carded, 14 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 14th minute, one of Pavón:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Pavón. In the 25th minute, Gilberto Pero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Gilberto Pero came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Ranquile FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilberto Pero couldn't finish the play. Erasmo Lordi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severino Gomez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 37th minute, Marcial Grabiel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Severino Gomez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Erasmo Lordi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Gomez in the 41st minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Rigoberto Phelipe left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pavón fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 45th match minute, Pavón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Astor Berbiz to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Severino Gomez made the kick off in the second half. Erasmo Lordi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilberto Pero in the 52nd minute of play. Rigoberto Phelipe might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Omar Bertol. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rigoberto Phelipe ran back to his position shaking his head. Rigoberto Phelipe who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Omar Bertol when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After having played for 65 minutes, Severino Gomez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ranquile FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Severino Gomez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Gilberto Pero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erasmo Lordi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilberto Pero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pavón's Rigoberto Phelipe got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Eusebio Asteri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rigoberto Phelipe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Omar Bertol made a huge save. Omar Bertol made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rigoberto Phelipe in the 93rd minute. The supporters of Pavón booed when Ranquile FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ariel Pio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Ranquile FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Pavón's performance. The match ended with a win for Pavón.
