Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Fabian Mercurio took the kick off in the first half of the match. Astor Berbiz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Marco Ekialde tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Astor Berbiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Ekialde having to interfere. 17 minutes into the match, Pavón's goalkeeper Erasmo Lordi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jonas Primo. The supporters of Saladillo booed when Pavón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omar Estevon didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Fabian Mercurio came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Saladillo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabian Mercurio couldn't finish the play. In the 23rd minute of the match, Jonas Primo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Erasmo Lordi was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Erasmo Lordi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabian Mercurio's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. If Fabian Mercurio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, Pavón's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Mercurio came free, but Erasmo Lordi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44th minute, Jonas Primo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fabian Mercurio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Erasmo Lordi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Astor Berbiz made a kick off. If Fabian Mercurio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Saladillo's Jonas Primo got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pavón's Erasmo Lordi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonas Primo in the 57th minute of play. Marco Ekialde didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 64th minute, which inside left pole to 0-1. Marco Ekialde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Astor Berbiz in the 72nd minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, Saladillo's Fabian Mercurio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Erasmo Lordi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pavón's Rigoberto Phelipe got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jonas Primo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Erasmo Lordi having to make a save. Marco Ekialde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Astor Berbiz, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. If Fabian Mercurio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pavón's Erasmo Lordi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabian Mercurio in the 95th minute of play. A collision led to Pavón getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Marcial Grabiel hit a great ball. After having played for 97 minutes, Fabian Mercurio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saladillo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabian Mercurio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Pavón eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
