Enzo Gaztea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emiliano Herrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Enzo Gaztea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enzo Bartuelo in the 4th minute of play. The supporters of Newells old Boys booed when Los Guppys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilberto Papo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Enzo Gaztea stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enzo Bartuelo's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Newells old Boys's zone, Emiliano Herrera stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enzo Gaztea came out of the goal and Emiliano Herrera tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16th match minute, Newells old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Orlando Cordaryal to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 18 minutes, Enzo Bartuelo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Guppys's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enzo Bartuelo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Orlando Cordaryal charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Orlando Cordaryal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 21st match minute, Newells old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Orlando Cordaryal to maneuver through the defense. Enzo Gaztea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emiliano Herrera in the 22nd minute of the match. Enzo Gaztea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enzo Bartuelo, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 25th match minute, Newells old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norberto Tono to maneuver through the defense. Enzo Bartuelo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 33rd minute Emiliano Herrera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enzo Gaztea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enzo Bartuelo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enzo Gaztea having to interfere. In the 38thth minute of the game Emiliano Herrera who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newells old Boys's Enzo Gaztea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Ceferino Cidro came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Newells old Boys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ceferino Cidro couldn't finish the play. Emiliano Herrera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emiliano Herrera stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With his leg Enzo Gaztea managed to avoid a goal in the 52ndth minute, when Los Guppys's Enzo Bartuelo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Enzo Gaztea came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Los Guppys's Emiliano Herrera. But to his dismay, Emiliano Herrera quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Enzo Bartuelo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Enzo Gaztea made a huge save. 60 minutes into the match, Newells old Boys's goalkeeper Enzo Gaztea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Enzo Bartuelo. The crowd rose to their feet as Los Guppys's Enzo Bartuelo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Enzo Gaztea. That made the score 0-2 after 60 minutes of play. Enzo Bartuelo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Enzo Gaztea when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Enzo Gaztea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emiliano Herrera, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After a rather tough play, Newells old Boys's Ambrosio Vellito got a free kick in the 68th minute. In the 69th minute of the match, Robert Cross sent away a good long shot that could have become a goal, but Enzo Gaztea showed an example of his skillful tending and made the save just under the crossbar. When Cesar Aimar came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Los Guppys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cesar Aimar couldn't finish the play. 77 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Newells old Boys's Ceferino Cidro fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 79th minute, Genaro Filipo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Robert Cross, 82 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Isidro Koldo hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Robert Cross from long distance, 88 minutes into the match, got Enzo Gaztea's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 88th match minute Robert Cross ran free in the middle of the field and shot a long shot which scored behind a totally surprised Enzo Gaztea. 0-3. If Mario Primo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enzo Bartuelo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 95th minute Emiliano Herrera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enzo Gaztea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
