The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eulalio Brais during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 31st minute, Eulalio Brais hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Instituto Athletic Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Santo Lopes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raimundo Bikendi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eriberto Fliz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
