After a rather tough play, Deportivo Martin Palermo's Benedicto Arano got a free kick in the 13th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Saverio Guzman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Martin Palermo's supporters rose to their feet, but Saverio Guzman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Isaac Lertxun breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Club Atlético San Martin's Isaac Lertxun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saverio Guzman in the 21st minute of play. Deportivo Martin Palermo's Arnoldo Senio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelino Fidele in the 23rd minute of play. Elvio Ederono fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnoldo Senio having to interfere. In the 35th minute Marcelino Fidele shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnoldo Senio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 35th minute, Natalio Chico hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Severiano Afonso hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Marcelino Fidele sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético San Martin's Amancio Nataniel got a free kick in the 44th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Saverio Guzman made the kick off in the second half. If Ceferino Betadur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elvio Ederono during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 55 played minutes Club Atlético San Martin got a freekick which was hit by Elvio Ederono. Eliseo Beremundo scored 0-1 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arnoldo Senio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Martin Palermo's David Cucao got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Eliseo Beremundo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Saverio Guzman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Isaac Lertxun read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Martin Palermo's zone, Marcelino Fidele stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnoldo Senio came out of the goal and Marcelino Fidele tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Deportivo Martin Palermo's David Cucao got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 80 minutes into the match, Deportivo Martin Palermo's goalkeeper Arnoldo Senio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eliseo Beremundo. David Cucao kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Eliseo Beremundo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcelino Fidele in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnoldo Senio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Saverio Guzman in the 92nd minute of play forced Club Atlético San Martin's goalkeeper Isaac Lertxun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute Saverio Guzman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isaac Lertxun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Club Atlético San Martin players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
