The supporters of Macho de la esquina booed when RIVER was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Epifanio Javiero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eduardo Mingo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vinicio Serapio in the 29th minute of play. Jonathan Jacob kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. RIVER's Eduardo Mingo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vinicio Serapio in the 34th minute of play. Guaberto Ihintza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Mingo having to interfere. After 39 played minutes RIVER got a freekick which was hit by Maximiliano Peio. In the 42nd match minute, RIVER was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Jacob to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vinicio Serapio in the 43rd minute of play forced RIVER's goalkeeper Eduardo Mingo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guaberto Ihintza kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 45thth minute. Though ot was a great shot RIVER's keeper Eduardo Mingo was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Guaberto Ihintza in the 53rd minute of play forced RIVER's goalkeeper Eduardo Mingo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpected shot in the 61st minute by Jonas Nikola got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 71st minute Vinicio Serapio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Mingo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 79th match minute, Macho de la esquina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elpidio Oxel to maneuver through the defense. 87 minutes into the match, Macho de la esquina's goal looked a bit too open when Santo Manny came free, but Rosendo Abaunza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 94 minutes, Santo Manny managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RIVER's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santo Manny was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rosendo Abaunza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jonas Nikola in the 96th minute. The RIVER players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
