The audience was convinced that Alejo Feliz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gerardo Toro was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. In the 23rd minute, Alejo Feliz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Honguito FC's zone, Damaso Oton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amado Cordaryal came out of the goal and Damaso Oton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alejo Feliz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lucio Ihintza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerardo Toro having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Damaso Oton was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute, Alejo Feliz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alejo Feliz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Chañares defense, Edelmiro Raulo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gerardo Toro. The Chañares fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gerardo Toro should have stopped the shot. In the 62nd minute Damaso Oton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amado Cordaryal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geronimo Aimar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Amado Cordaryal made a huge save. After having played for 71 minutes, Edelmiro Raulo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honguito FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edelmiro Raulo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Damaso Oton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chañares's supporters rose to their feet, but Damaso Oton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Amado Cordaryal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 77th minute by Geronimo Aimar got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 88th minute Damaso Oton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amado Cordaryal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ambrosio Mark struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Amado Cordaryal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chañares. Honguito FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
