A collision led to MTD FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Timoteo Orti hit a great ball. In the 22nd minute Leopoldo Cucao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rigoberto Rioja saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leopoldo Cucao sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sergio Danel charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sergio Danel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Marcial Veto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Estudiantes LP's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcial Veto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carmelo Sabin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of MTD FC booed when Estudiantes LP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Frisco didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Estudiantes LP's zone, Leopoldo Cucao stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rigoberto Rioja came out of the goal and Leopoldo Cucao tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

A hard shot 75 in the game by Isidoro Urbes from a close distance when the talented Rigoberto Rioja managed to make a qualified save. Estudiantes LP's players were relieved. A collision led to Estudiantes LP getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Victor Felo hit a great ball. Leopoldo Cucao received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Rigoberto Rioja tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rigoberto Rioja showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leopoldo Cucao, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Leopoldo Cucao blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rigoberto Rioja having to make a save. MTD FC's Isidoro Urbes got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match was over MTD FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Estudiantes LP throughout the match.
