To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Justino Lorenz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Natalio Arnas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Natalio Arnas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Justino Lorenz, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. When Julio Ofelio fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored River's protests and gave Julio Ofelio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 15th minute, Julio Ofelio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilfredo Baudelio got free with Clodoveo Viviano in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

Jorge Montez charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Clodoveo Viviano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilfredo Baudelio in the 97th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. C.A.Temperley had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
