Gonzalo Stephen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celso Hotz having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Silvestre Izel made a kick off. If Horacio Kusko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Celso Hotz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horacio Kusko in the 53rd minute of play. Caldao's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gaypón the free kick. Gaypón's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
