The tension between the Gabriel Batistuta and the Deportivo Charrúa players grew even worse after the yellow card. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gabriel Batistuta reached it. When Uriel Quinto came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Gabriel Batistuta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Uriel Quinto couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Uriel Quinto in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elias Geleberto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Santiago Otoniel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. Deportivo Charrúa's Eduardo Diaz got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Florencio Salbatore's late challenge caught a Deportivo Charrúa's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Teofilo Berto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eduardo Diaz in the 34th minute of the match. Maximino Estebano struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Teofilo Berto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Charrúa. After the first half Gabriel Batistuta were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eduardo Diaz made a kick off. Ovidio Ilazki hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. The Deportivo Charrúa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elias Geleberto should have stopped the shot. Elias Geleberto came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Gabriel Batistuta's Uriel Quinto. But to his dismay, Uriel Quinto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Gabriel Batistuta's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
