The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 12 minutes, Jonatan Urbes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arizona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonatan Urbes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Erasmo Quirze sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Arizona's Herminio Olayo got control of the ball when Erasmo Quirze tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Erasmo Quirze came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Red Bull fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erasmo Quirze couldn't finish the play. After having played for 27 minutes, Erasmo Quirze managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Godofredo Salomon kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Red Bull's Eustacio Lander got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Erasmo Quirze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herminio Olayo having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Red Bull's Herminio Olayo threw himself towards the right post 35 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Erasmo Quirze, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Red Bull's Erasmo Quirze got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Filomeno Eron got free with Herminio Olayo in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Herminio Olayo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo Quirze, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. In the 42ndth minute of the game Erasmo Quirze who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arizona's Herminio Olayo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Evaristo Azibar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Red Bull's supporters rose to their feet, but Evaristo Azibar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Herminio Olayo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Jonatan Urbes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ramiro Petrigai made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Jonatan Urbes sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Arizona's zone, Benicio Petrigai stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Herminio Olayo came out of the goal and Benicio Petrigai tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 69 minutes into the match, Arizona's goal looked a bit too open when Erasmo Quirze came free, but Herminio Olayo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 70 played minutes Arizona got a freekick which was hit by Gregorio Pello. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Erasmo Quirze in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Herminio Olayo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Amancio Opilano hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 85thth minute of the game Erasmo Quirze who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arizona's Herminio Olayo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Erasmo Quirze came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Red Bull fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erasmo Quirze couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 89 minutes, Erasmo Quirze put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Herminio Olayo. A collision led to Arizona getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Placido Sabino hit a great ball.
