When Ulises Bladi came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Racing Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ulises Bladi couldn't finish the play. Racing Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Raimundo Tolino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silverio Matteo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 38 minutes, Gilberto Vincente managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Clemente Menendo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 45th match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esteban Gonsalvo to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th minute Gilberto Vincente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clemente Menendo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 49thth minute of the game Gilberto Vincente who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Racing Club's Clemente Menendo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

The wind increased when Raimundo Tolino made the kick off in the second half. Clemente Menendo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente.
