In the 3rdth minute of the game Aquilino Neto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atletico Atlas's Edmond Tardif was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Atletico Atlas's zone, Benigno Polo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmond Tardif came out of the goal and Benigno Polo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Independiente's Benigno Polo in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Atletico Atlas's goalie prevented a goal. Edmond Tardif showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aquilino Neto, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Aquilino Neto notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Atletico Atlas's Edmond Tardif. Edmond Tardif was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Atletico Atlas getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. German Lehior hit a great ball. The Independiente fans' excitement grew in the 16th match minute when Independiente's Benigno Polo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Gustavo Timo got a free kick in the 20th minute. After 21 minutes of play, Atletico Atlas's Francisco Ostots made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Herminio Admon was left in no man's land by his defense there! Benigno Polo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmond Tardif having to interfere. When Jeremias Sidro fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atletico Atlas's protests and gave Jeremias Sidro a yellow card for diving instead. Independiente's Benigno Polo got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edmond Tardif took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benigno Polo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Atletico Atlas's zone, Benigno Polo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmond Tardif came out of the goal and Benigno Polo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Artemio Beat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herminio Admon having to interfere. Benigno Polo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Edmond Tardif tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atletico Atlas's goalkeeper Edmond Tardif, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Benigno Polo might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edmond Tardif. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Benigno Polo ran back to his position shaking his head. Aquilino Neto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Ostots got free with Herminio Admon in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edmond Tardif didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Benigno Polo went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Aquilino Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmond Tardif having to interfere. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benigno Polo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Edmond Tardif made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benigno Polo in the 53rd minute of play. Aquilino Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmond Tardif having to interfere. With a little luck, Atletico Atlas's Edmond Tardif got control of the ball when Benigno Polo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 60th match minute, Atletico Atlas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeremias Sidro to maneuver through the defense. Francisco Ostots received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Herminio Admon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Independiente's Humberto Cordaryal got a free kick in the 66th minute. Benigno Polo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edmond Tardif read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Aquilino Neto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independiente's supporters rose to their feet, but Aquilino Neto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edmond Tardif breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benigno Polo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmond Tardif having to interfere. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Independiente's goalkeeper Herminio Admon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Benigno Polo took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edmond Tardif. Edmond Tardif dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. Benigno Polo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 81stth minute, Edmond Tardif skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 85 minutes into the match, Independiente's Benigno Polo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edmond Tardif narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Aquilino Neto struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Edmond Tardif didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Independiente. Edmond Tardif showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benigno Polo in the 89th minute of the match. Gustavo Timo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmond Tardif having to interfere. 93 minutes into the match, Independiente's Benigno Polo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edmond Tardif narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Independiente's Humberto Cordaryal got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
