In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mr. Popo's goalkeeper Arnoldo Manny, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Victorio Iraido charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Victorio Iraido the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 12 played minutes Mr. Popo got a freekick which was hit by Victorio Iraido. After having played for 18 minutes, Artemio Olayo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. La Banda del Chila's supporters crossed their fingers, but Artemio Olayo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Humberto Ortiz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulino Araoz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, La Banda del Chila's goal looked a bit too open when Jacobo Lizar came free, but Humberto Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Humberto Ortiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bonifacio Merexildo in the 26th minute of play. After some careless play in the La Banda del Chila defense, Bonifacio Merexildo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Humberto Ortiz. The La Banda del Chila fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Humberto Ortiz should have stopped the shot. 32 minutes into the match, La Banda del Chila's goal looked a bit too open when Jacobo Lizar came free, but Humberto Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st match minute, La Banda del Chila was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damaso Elija to maneuver through the defense. 43 minutes into the match, La Banda del Chila's goal looked a bit too open when Jacobo Lizar came free, but Humberto Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44th minute, Bonifacio Merexildo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mr. Popo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. After the first half Mr. Popo were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Artemio Olayo made a kick off. In the 57th minute, Roque Raymon made a precise shot to the right of Humberto Ortiz. La Banda del Chila's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. After some careless play in the La Banda del Chila defense, Jacobo Lizar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Humberto Ortiz. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Urbez in the 80th minute of play forced Mr. Popo's goalkeeper Arnoldo Manny to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bonifacio Merexildo during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Mr. Popo's Bonifacio Merexildo got a free kick in the 84th minute. Francisco Urbez's late challenge caught a Mr. Popo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francisco Urbez helped the player get up and apologised. In the 88th match minute, La Banda del Chila was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Urbez to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Cleto Gorosti from long distance, 90 minutes into the match, got Humberto Ortiz's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 92nd minute, Artemio Olayo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The La Banda del Chila fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-5. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Artemio Olayo in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnoldo Manny saved Mr. Popo from getting behind.
