Delmar Bortzaioriz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicanor Fernandes in the 42nd minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Delmar Bortzaioriz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonardo Galoer, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After a rather tough play, Instituto's Silvano Txartiko got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 58th minute Apolo Ursino suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 58 minutes into the game, Celedonio Bixintxo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Deportivo Carlos Bilardo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Instituto the free kick. Instituto's Candido Damario was substituted for Apolo Ursino. Delmar Bortzaioriz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Epifanio Vito in the 63rd minute of play. In the 65th match minute, Instituto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvano Txartiko to maneuver through the defense. Candido Damario could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Everardo Giro made a huge save.
