Aldo Lluques was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 26 minutes into the game, Pastor Handi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Osvaldo Amato was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 31 minutes into the match, Picapiedras's goal looked a bit too open when Pastor Handi came free, but Osvaldo Amato reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Picapiedras fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! Covunco's Pastor Handi got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The supporters of Picapiedras booed when Covunco was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnoldo Jayvier didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Roberto Pirro came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Picapiedras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roberto Pirro couldn't finish the play. 61 minutes into the match, Ciriaco Calixto notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Covunco's Aldo Lluques.
