Resistencia AFC's Filomeno Panpili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ingvar Linqvist in the 51st minute of play. The Académica FC fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Académica FC's Ingvar Linqvist looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 8-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 56 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Orlando Mendez couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute Orlando Mendez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filomeno Panpili saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Filomeno Panpili didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Académica FC.
