Cecilio Maore charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Alejandro Marino was out of position in the 42 minute of play, and Clodoveo Suarez capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Clodoveo Suarez really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

A collision led to Palmira FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Clemente Stanislao hit a great ball. Osvaldo Barbosa's late challenge caught a Palmira FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Osvaldo Barbosa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Palmira FC booed when Closers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 58th play minutes Rodrigo Olando shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Alejandro Marino and just under the crossbar into goal. The coaching staff of Palmira FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Cristobal Oidor had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 84 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Palmira FC! Cecilio Maore shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. In the 88th minute Clodoveo Suarez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alejandro Marino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 89th minute, Osvaldo Barbosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Closers fans cheered their team off the field, for while Palmira FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
