Narciso Loiola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Øyvind Leonhardsen having to interfere. A collision led to C.A. Independiente getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Virgilio Caradaro hit a great ball. 9 minutes into the match, Absolut FC's Santiago Quirze sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Uzuri narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 13th minute, Modesto Pepillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Modesto Pepillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Absolut FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Modesto Pepillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After 42 minutes, Eriberto Luzea mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Absolut FC and the C.A. Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience was convinced that Narciso Loiola's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Øyvind Leonhardsen was relentless in the 44th minute of the game.
