When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Nemesio Telo sped through Racing Club's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Romulo Mendebal. When Horacio Vidal fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Racing Club's protests and gave Horacio Vidal a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Racing Club getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Horacio Vidal hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Nemesio Telo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Romulo Mendebal was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. The Racing Club players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
