Spectators: 7080 (Terracing: 5455, Seating: 1575, VIP seats: 50) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Amador Pitin kicked off to start the match. The supporters of Independiente booed when C.A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Lonzo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Fausto Beltran came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fausto Beltran couldn't finish the play. Edgard Lonzo's late challenge caught a Independiente's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgard Lonzo helped the player get up and apologised. After recieving a nice pass, Independiente's Desiderio Tancredo tried to score from far away in the 7th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 9th minute Fausto Beltran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tarcisio Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tarcisio Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Beltran, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Fausto Beltran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tarcisio Negri having to interfere. Tarcisio Negri made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Filomeno Lorien sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Eusebio Cordarell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fidel Niva came out of the goal and Eusebio Cordarell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Independiente's Fidel Niva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusebio Cordarell in the 27th minute of play. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Ubaldo Giro hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Amador Pitin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fidel Niva came out of the goal and Amador Pitin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Filomeno Lorien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Tarcisio Negri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Filomeno Lorien managed to get in a good position for a shot. Independiente's supporters rose to their feet, but Filomeno Lorien was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tarcisio Negri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Amador Pitin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fausto Beltran to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Filomeno Lorien ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tarcisio Negri was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After a rather tough play, C.A. Independiente's Florencio Iyan got a free kick in the 57th minute. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. Independiente's zone, Filomeno Lorien stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tarcisio Negri came out of the goal and Filomeno Lorien tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Independiente's Filomeno Lorien suffered a concussion after 60 minutes and had to leave the field. Cauan Coelho charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cauan Coelho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 61 played minutes C.A. Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Cauan Coelho. After having played for 64 minutes, Fausto Beltran managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto Beltran was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fidel Niva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amador Pitin, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Fidel Niva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amador Pitin in the 75th minute of play. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A. Independiente's goalkeeper Tarcisio Negri, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Independiente's zone, Amador Pitin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fidel Niva came out of the goal and Amador Pitin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alejandro Lalla hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Fausto Beltran blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tarcisio Negri having to make a save. After 91 minutes of play Independiente's Alejandro Lalla was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Alejandro Lalla hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Independiente had won after a very even match.
