Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Edgard Muc came free, but Tarcisio Negri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eusebio Cordarell in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Romulo Mendebal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eusebio Cordarell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. C.A. Independiente's Herminio Panfilo got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eusebio Cordarell to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Florencio Iyan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Romulo Mendebal, 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Amador Pitin during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Racing Club's Romulo Mendebal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Racing Club from getting a goal against them. Horacio Vidal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tarcisio Negri having to interfere. 75 minutes into the game, Edgard Muc was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Racing Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C.A. Independiente the free kick. In the 75th match minute, Racing Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edgard Muc to maneuver through the defense. If Eusebio Cordarell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tarcisio Negri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgard Muc in the 81st minute of the match. After having played for 88 minutes, Edgard Muc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Racing Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgard Muc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. C.A. Independiente walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
