Bartolo Ruisko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomas Gaxan having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Cienaguita's Marciano Pepillo got a free kick in the 7th minute. If Arnaldo Naelio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Danilo Jakes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eustacio Ciano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Rodrigo Fanuco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rodrigo Fanuco came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Cienaguita's Elpidio Lluc. But to his dismay, Elpidio Lluc quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Bartolo Ruiskos short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Tomas Gaxan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Cienaguita's Tomas Gaxan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Naelio in the 28th minute of play. Vinicio Guillem hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Danilo Jakes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomas Gaxan was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Elpidio Lluc blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rodrigo Fanuco having to make a save. Bartolo Ruisko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Tomas Gaxan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bartolo Ruisko who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Tomas Gaxan when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Eustacio Ciano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Elpidio Lluc could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Rodrigo Fanuco made a huge save. When Danilo Jakes came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danilo Jakes couldn't finish the play.
