Gaston Vermudo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anastasio Estevon in the 24th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Anastasio Estevon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Los Jibaros's supporters rose to their feet, but Anastasio Estevon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gaston Vermudo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ubaldo Cordarryl in the 28th minute of play forced Merlo FC's goalkeeper Gaston Vermudo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Merlo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anastasio Estevon came free, but Gaston Vermudo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alberto Mero was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 44th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Gaston Vermudo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ubaldo Cordarryl, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Jacinto Caitano fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Merlo FC's protests and gave Jacinto Caitano a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Merlo FC getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Jacinto Caitano hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albano Aurken was the one to do the kick off. Aristides Gombal hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. In the 59thth minute of the game Ubaldo Cordarryl who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Merlo FC's Gaston Vermudo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fernan Tanio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albano Aurken, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gaston Vermudo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ubaldo Cordarryl in the 69th minute of play. Anastasio Estevon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match clock showed 79 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Ubaldo Cordarryl sped through Merlo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gaston Vermudo. In the 83rd minute of the match Romulo Elija sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernan Tanio skillfully saved the ball. Horacio Fonda charged in rather forcefully in the 86th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Horacio Fonda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 86 played minutes Merlo FC got a freekick which was hit by Horacio Fonda. 87 minutes into the match, Los Jibaros's Alberto Mero broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 1-2 became the score in the 91st minute when Ubaldo Cordarryl elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Merlo FC's Gaston Vermudo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ubaldo Cordarryl in the 98th minute of play. When the match was over Los Jibaros could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Merlo FC throughout the match.
