Virreyes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Genaro Gaufred was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Virreyes's Jimeno Lazcano got a free kick in the 37th minute. The long shot by Anacleto Jurgi in the 41st minute really tested Godfredo Kiliz's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Godfredo Kiliz made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Anastasio Dimo sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 46 minutes, Genaro Gaufred managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Virreyes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Genaro Gaufred was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergio Oihenarte in the 49th minute of play forced San Martín City's goalkeeper Marco Rafel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Virreyes's Godfredo Kiliz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aldo Ihazintu in the 53rd minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Virreyes's Genaro Gaufred sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marco Rafel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Marco Rafel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genaro Gaufred in the 65th minute of play. When Jonathan Ipar fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Virreyes's protests and gave Jonathan Ipar a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Virreyes fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 71st minute. Penalty! Sergio Oihenarte struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Marco Rafel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Virreyes.
