When Feliciano Cordarryl came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Chinchinales AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Feliciano Cordarryl couldn't finish the play. Maximiliano Oliviero stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Baldomero Bieito's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Cayetano Firme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diego Orlondon having to interfere. Chinchinales AFC's Feliciano Cordarryl got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 1-1 became the score in the 33rd minute when Cayetano Firme elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, Feliciano Cordarryl ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Diego Orlondon was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Feliciano Cordarryl in the 51st minute of play forced Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba's goalkeeper Diego Orlondon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Baldomero Bieito charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Baldomero Bieito the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Chinchinales AFC booed when Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baldomero Bieito didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 64 minutes, Pablo Quirze managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chinchinales AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pablo Quirze was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Chinchinales AFC's Cayetano Firme got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 81st minute Humberto Guillelmus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maximiliano Oliviero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the game, Humberto Guillelmus cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Maximiliano Oliviero was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Feliciano Cordarryl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Diego Orlondon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Feliciano Cordarryl, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
