Rodrigo Hanot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Acuña in the 14th minute of play. The supporters of Duendes San Patricio booed when Deportivo San Mario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omar Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Deportivo San Mario's Rodrigo Hanot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Acuña in the 18th minute of play. Gonzalo Ibon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Oriol having to interfere. After having played for 44 minutes, Hipolito Matthew managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Duendes San Patricio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hipolito Matthew was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Deportivo San Mario were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Omar Torres made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gonzalo Ibon got free with Marcelo Oriol in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 55 played minutes Deportivo San Mario got a freekick which was hit by Delmar Muno. The supporters of Duendes San Patricio booed when Deportivo San Mario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celedonio Txatxu didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 60th minute, Omar Torres reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcelo Oriol. The goal made the score 0-2. Deportivo San Mario's supporters rose to their feet, but Omar Torres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelo Oriol breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Omar Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duendes San Patricio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo San Mario the free kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gonzalo Ibon couldn't finish the play. Gonzalo Ibon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
