Fortineros's Honorio Nel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Fortineros from getting a goal against them. In the 19th match minute, Fortineros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moises Diagur to maneuver through the defense. After 21 minutes, Edgard Quinto made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Fortineros's Honorio Nel tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Honorio Nel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Niceto Pierres in the 24th minute. Niceto Pierres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Niceto Pierres in the 31stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Honorio Nel, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a defensive mix-up in Fortineros's zone, Niceto Pierres stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Honorio Nel came out of the goal and Niceto Pierres tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Niceto Pierres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Honorio Nel having to interfere. Leonardo Cordarrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leonardo Cordarrell blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Maximiliano Buinton having to make a save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 53rdth minute of the game Edgard Quinto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fortineros's Honorio Nel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 59th minute Edgard Quinto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Honorio Nel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Fortineros getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Aristides Garoa hit a great ball. Danilo Quinteros took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 66th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Honorio Nel. Fortineros's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Roque Ixona came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Fortineros fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roque Ixona couldn't finish the play. Honorio Nel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niceto Pierres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Niceto Pierres blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Honorio Nel having to make a save. Roque Ixona could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Maximiliano Buinton made a huge save. In the 92nd minute, Fortineros's Roque Ixona dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. The Fortineros supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Fortineros would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
