After a rather tough play, Fortineros's Eusebio Montay got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute of the match Suplentes Que Lastiman got a corner. Fortineros's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Feliberto Lucero ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Suplentes Que Lastiman's Feliberto Lucero to fire away a dangerous shot which Honorio Nel despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Atilano Ekialde fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fortineros's protests and gave Atilano Ekialde a yellow card for diving instead. After 47 played minutes Fortineros got a freekick which was hit by Atilano Ekialde.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enrique Ado to make the kick off. Honorio Nel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Salvador Enetz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sebastian Palben made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonardo Cordarrell in the 73rd minute of play. If Enrique Ado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 76 minutes, Zeledon Jon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Suplentes Que Lastiman and the Fortineros players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Fortineros booed when Suplentes Que Lastiman was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrique Ado didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, Fortineros could leave the field as winners, despite Suplentes Que Lastiman having more of the ball for most of the match.
